Toxicology investigates the influence of poisons on living organisms and all aspects of the adverse effects of chemical substances on biological systems.

Therefore, a poison should be considered as any substance, > that is introduced into the body by any means, even in a relatively small amount, due to its physicochemical properties can cause changes in the structure or disorders of the body functions that result of illness or death.

For example - the liver cirrhosis - with regeneration of the liver parenchyma leading to liver failure; it usually develops slowly; the cause of disease development incl. the alcohol abuse (about 50% of cases).

And, what are Xenobiotics?

Xenobiotics are substances that are not natural metabolites of the body. In 1947, Roger Williams, in his monograph called "Detoxifications Mechanisms" for the first time he presented biotransformation of xenobiotics as a staged process, proceeding in successive phases of the so-called functionalisation and conjugation.

It is now well known that the metabolism of xenobiotics can be divided into four main processes:

• Absorption
• Distribution - between individual tissues and organs as well as penetration through intra-thoracic barriers and accumulation in tissues
• Biochemical transformations (biotransformation) that often leads to the formation of more toxic metabolite than the parent compound
• Excretion

Sweet Wormwood root = Artemisia annua

(Artemisia annua L.) The extract contains an artemisinin, that is used in oncology and treatment of malaria. The ingredients of the extracts increase the amount of bile produced, stimulate the flow and release of bile into the duodenum. Tanners and Flavonoids Act anti-inflammatory and slightly astrasingly to the gastrointestinal mucoses. The constituents of the essential oil and the Lactones possess antimicrobial properties (especially in relation to Streptococcus mutans serotype C and D) and antiparasitic (Protozoal, Fin and Obleńce). Sweet Feather Root extract is rich in beetles, flavonoids and mineral salts that work antioxidant.

Usage:
The most important indications for the use of products from the herb are gastroenteritis, infertility, flatulence, epigastric pain caused by smooth muscle contraction of the digestive tract, insufficient production of bile or its retention with an atonic or systolic background. Preparations of the Mugwort root are used as a means of reducing or lifting the systolic states of the intestines and bile ducts, especially the sphincter of the bile duct into the duodenum, as well as in the contractions and pains in the abdomen, intestinal colic and Elderly people. Infusions or odours improve slightly the flow of bile into the duodenum and facilitate the digestion of foods.

Broccoli

(Brassica oleracea L. var. italica Plen) Rich in vitamins (e.g. vitamin U – Anti-ulcer), flavonoids, isothiocyanates and sterols (Brassicasterol Brassica) contain very large amounts of sulfofranu, thus demonstrating a strong anti-cancer effect. Sulforaphane exhibits anti-carcinogenic effects both at the stage of formation and development of tumour lesions. This is primarily about the ability to minimise the risk of mutation formation and to remove factors that stimulate their formation, to reduce the reactivity of genotoxic compounds, to influence the cellular cycle, to proliferate, but also to induce Cell differentiation processes and their programmed death, i.e. apoptosis. In the final phase of the redevelopment, the positive effect of sulforaphane decreases significantly, but nevertheless the results of the studies indicate a reduction in the angiogenesis process and the inhibition of metatherapy. The reason why it is worth talking about the isothiocyanate contained in broccoli is also its positive effect on the metabolism of xenobiotides. This is associated with the ability of sulforaphane to regulate the activity of phase I and II enzymes and their expression. Both enzymatic groups participate in the transformation and removal of cancerogens from the body. The phase I (cytochrome P-450 family) enzymes are designed to prepare the emerging oncogic agent for subsequent changes in the body, resulting in an increase in its activity, formation of transient compounds and formation of mutations. In turn, the phase II enzymes (particularly the S-transferase of Glutathogen, Quinonuctase, UDP-glucuronoslotranserase and Quinonic NADPH Oxydoreduktase) contribute to the elimination of xenobiotides from the body by increasing their solubility in Aquatic environment. Animal studies have clearly demonstrated the effect of sulforaphane on phase II enzyme induction and inhibition of phase I enzymes.

Eugenia aromatica (L.) Baill., Clove tree

(Syzygium aromaticum) The main compounds-cloves contain quite a few essential oils 16-20%; Clove Oil – Oleum caryophyllorum Chaplet fragrant antibacterial, topical anesthetic, spazmolitically, antiviral, antiseptically, anti-inflammatory, application: Clove extract supports the work of the system Digestive tract, stimulates intestinal peristalsis and eliminates bloating and protects the body from free radicals. The essential oil exhibits antioxidant and anticedic properties. Cloves have an anti-diarrhea effect, stimulate digestion and prevent infections of the gastrointestinal tract. Clove oil is used in the treatment of upper respiratory tract, in rheumatism and neuralgia, common cold, nausea, vomiting and digestive disorders. In dentistry it was found to use both clove oil and eugenol obtained from it, which exhibit antiseptic and painkiller effects. In addition, clove oil and eugenol are used to improve the taste and smell of drugs, to preparations intended for inhalation, as well as seasoning for food and food products.

Chlorella

(Chlorella) - the algae from a group of green algae. Chlorella is a single-celled algae that creates colonies in nature. Chlorella is rich in proteins (60-66%), sugars (5.4 g / 100 g), fats (6-12.8 g / 100 g), chlorophyll (1875 mg / 100), vitamin A (32-50.000 iu / 100g), vitamin E (8.2-22 mg / 100 g), xanthophyll (138 mg / 100), inositol 120 mg, vitamin B1 (1.78 mg / 100 g), vitamin B2 (6.32 mg) ), vitamin B6 (1.40 mg), vitamin B12 (0.28 mg), vitamin PP (23.6 mg), vitamin B5 (1.10 mg), folic acid (1.03 mg), vitamin K ( 2.27 mg), vitamin H (0.20 mg), vitamin C (25 mg), calcium (183 mg), potassium (1020 mg), magnesium (265 mg), iron (185 mg), zinc (38 mg)/100 g).                         

                        It has a nourishing effect, stimulates tissue regeneration and detoxification processes. It has diuretic, antiatherogenic and immunostimulating effects.                         

                        It supports the development of useful intestinal microflora and their normal peristalsis. Chlorelin contained in Chlorella works as a natural antibiotic. It destroys pathogenic bacteria while supporting the growth and spread of friendly bacterial flora. Lactobacillus, included in chlorella, that is the most desired bacteria in the bowel and multiplies four times faster. This algae affect the formation of blood, supports the activity of white blood cells and cleanses the blood. Chlorella is currently the richest source of chlorophyll. Chlorophyll, the structural structure of the molecule, is similar to haemoglobin. It has a positive effect on the formation of red blood cells, which is used to treat anaemia. In addition, chlorophyll has an antibacterial effect, stabilises blood pressure, strengthens the heart muscle and accelerates the wound healing process. Chlorella alga helps neutralise free radicals and rejuvenates the body. By slowing down the oxidation of cells and the elimination of free radicals, it prevents premature ageing. The removal of free radicals is also important in the prevention of cancer. The Chlorella Growth Factor (CGF) accelerates tissue regeneration, cell division and growth. It improves the quality and condition of the skin. It supports the general regeneration of the body. Chlorella accelerates the healing process of wounds (incl. post-operative wounds), tissue regeneration and mental weakness accompanying the recovery time. Chlorella reduces the acidity of the body's internal environment. The development of acidosis can occur in the course of many diseases such as diabetes, alcohol poisoning, kidney disease (renal failure) and gastrointestinal tract, lung, and cardiovascular system. The best way to counteract acidosis is to eat food rich in chlorophyll. Chlorella is one of the best options. It lowers cholesterol level, prevents atherosclerosis. Chlorella binds cholesterol, allowing the bowel to eliminate its excess. In the case of hypocholesterolemia, chlorella promotes the synthesis of cholesterol in the body.

Milk thistle

(Silybum marianum L. Gaertn.) - is a plant belonging to the Asteraceae family. Its main biologically active substance is a mixture of flavonolignans known as silymarin, which consists of about 60-70% of silibinin and in smaller parts of isosilibinin, silychristin and silidianin. The material also contains valuable phytosterols (campesterol, beta-sitosterol, lanosterol, stigmasterol), vitamin F, E, flavones (apigenin, luteolin, chrysoeriol, eriodine), flavonols (kemferol, quercetin), flavanones (toxigen), phenol glycosides. Silymarin exhibits anti -hepatotoxic effects. For many years it has been used in preparations used in liver diseases. Stimulates cell regeneration and works cholagogue and cholagogue. Silymarin is also included in the group of anti-cancer compounds due to antioxidant properties.

Inhibiting the destructive influence of toxins on liver cells, or the protective effect of hepatoprotectomy, inhibition of irreversible fibrosis of liver tissue (protection against liver cirrhosis) and strong anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects are the main features of the action of silymarin or an extract containing flavonolignans obtained from milk thistle.

In laboratory tests, it was proved that Silymarin increases the activity of DNA-dependent RNA polymerase, which increases the biosynthesis of proteins in damaged hepatocytes. Stimulation of protein biosynthesis takes place only in damaged organs, whereas silymarin does not exert that effect on healthy liver. There are reports of anticancer and anti-rheumatic properties of extracts containing silymarin. It also prevents the deposition of gallstones and gallstones.

Therapeutic indications for the use of milk thistle extracts include conditions after liver damage caused by the action of hepatotoxic agents, e.g. alcohol, drugs, viruses, plant protection agents, etc.

WARNING! Silymarin can also be used preventively - especially in people living in a heavily polluted environment, consuming large amounts of highly processed and chemically preserved food, people who have a family predisposition for the formation of liver disease or consuming regular alcohol.

Silymarin therapy for patients with damaged liver brings measurable benefits. In many clinical trials, rapid subjective improvement, normalization of elevated transaminase levels, and increase in albumin in patients with chronic hepatitis and cirrhosis have been reported.

Silimarin, a flavonolignan found in the seeds and fruits of the milk thistle fruit, has also proved to be an effective substance that protects the skin against UV radiation. By affecting the fat metabolism, it influences the quantity and quality of sebum. The process of keratosis of the sebaceous glands and the epidermis is slowed down. This can be used to treat acne and psoriasis.

Silymarin is a very valuable, natural healing substance. It can be used both in therapy and prevention of diseases related to environmental pollution.

Green tea

(Camellia sinensis L.) Action: Green tea is obtained from the upper leaves of the Camellia sinensis Bush (Thea sinensis) subjected to mild water vapour (deactivation of enzymes responsible for oxidation processes) and then dried. Tea is the second most popular beverage consumed in the world (40 l per person)

in numerous studies conducted in different animal models, involving humans and in vitro experiments in The compounds contained in green tea exhibit antioxidant, antitumor, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and anti-atherosclerotic properties. The effect of green tea and its main active substance, epigalocatechin gallate (EGCG), against cancer, has been supported by the results of epidemiological, non-clinical and clinical studies. Epidemiological studies suggest that consuming green tea lowers the risk of developing cancers. Green tea polyphenols exhibit antioxidant, indirect anticatological and anti-inflammatory effects, confirmed in vitro, in vivo and clinical studies. In green tea, catechin polyphenols dominate, which in vitro studies exhibit antioxidant effects-they dispose of oxygen and nitrogen free radicals and chelate metal ions in redox reactions. Polyphenols act indirectly as antioxidants, inhibiting transcription factors sensitive to changes in redox equilibrium (the κb nuclear agent and protein Activator-1), may contribute to inhibition of the activity of "prooxidative" enzymes ( Lipooxygenase, cyclooxygenase, xanthine oxidase), can also induce antioxidant enzymes in phase II oxidation process (S-glutathion transferase and superoxide dismutase). Catechins exhibit strong antioxidant properties, even several times more potent than vitamins C and E. These compounds can provide up to 1/3 dry weight of green tea leaves. Research suggests that catechins can prevent lipid peroxidation and are capable of sweeping the superoxide anionary as well as other RFT. Catechins also exhibit the ability to change the activity of certain enzymes and to chelate copper and iron ions, which prevents the formation of an excessive number of free radicals. Epidemiological studies have reported that consuming green tea prevents the development of second-type diabetes.
