  • MORTALITY DUE TO THESE CAUSES IS GREATER IN CITIES and concerns almost every fourth death case due to cardiological reasons (in rural areas every fifth).
  • ISCHEMIC HEART DISEASE IS THE BASIC CARDIOLOGICAL CAUSE OF DEATHS (among men and women), in 2013 over 22 thousand died from this disease - it accounted for approx. 27% of deaths due to CVD in men, and 20% in women.
  • The second significant cause of death in the circulatory system is CEREBROVASCULAR DISEASE, that in 2013 affected more than 18% of cardiological deaths in Poland. The percentage of deaths from cardiovascular disease in the total number of deaths 14 (almost 33 thousand cases). These diseases were more often the cause of deaths of women - in 2013 they accounted for 20% of deaths in the area of CVD, and among men they were less frequently - 17%.

External elastic membrane (Latin: Membrana elastica externa); outer layer, adventitia or outer membrane (Latin: Tunica adventitia or tunica externa) - made of collagen fibers that attach the wall of the vessel to the surrounding flaccid tissue; it may also contain elastic fibers, connective tissue cells (fibroblasts, macrophages, mast cells), smooth muscle cells and vasomotor nerve fibers (usually do not penetrate into the middle layer); within the advent of large vessels there are also so-called VESSEL VESSELS (Latin: Vasa vasorum), which can also branch out in the outer 1/3 to 2/3 of the middle layer thickness.
